Rockville’s biotech community got a new neighbor when Advanced BioScience Laboratories Inc. moved into 9800 Medical Center Drive, the former headquarters of Human Genome Sciences Inc. After two years of searching, ABL, which conducts biomedical research, signed a 15-year lease in March of last year.
The 72,000-square-foot facility serves as ABL’s headquarters for its administration, laboratory services and manufacturing. The facility also provides room for expansion. At least $10 million was invested to change the building from a high-end vivarium facility to a corporate headquarters.
“We found the ideal new facility for ABL’s headquarters, that will allow us to further strengthen our services as a world-class contract research and marketing organization,” said Thomas VanCott, the biotech company’s CEO.
